About

EDUCATOR:

My name is Meg Griswold and I am a secondary educator.  I teach middle school humanities at Graded, The American School of São Paulo.  My husband, David, teaches high school math and computer science at Graded.  We have three kids: Calvin (10), Matilda (8), and Everett (5).

Before Brazil, we lived in Nashville, Tennessee, where my husband and I taught at Harpeth Hall, an independent, all-girls school.  I taught 9th and 10 grade English and AP Language and Composition.  Before moving to Nashville, we met as teachers in New York City public schools.  I taught 6th grade humanities at the Urban Assembly Institute of Math and Science for Young Women, and 8th grade English and reading intervention at New Heights Academy Charter School.

I have a master’s degree in English education and educational theater from NYU, and a bachelor’s degree in theater and Spanish from Case Western Reserve University.  I spent my junior year of college in London, and I’ve also completed graduate-level education coursework at the University of New Hampshire and George Washington University.

I grew up as a third culture kid.  I spent 5th and 6th grade in Mexico City at the American School Foundation, and 7th -12th grade in Caracas, Venezuela at Escuela Campo Alegre.  I am fluent in Spanish and Portuguese.

I coach elementary swimming after school and in my free time I like to read, play the mandolin, hike, and run.
